Tarot: A Journey Beyond Fortune-Telling – Discovering Its True Purpose

I started reading Tarot in 2003 when a classmate gave me a Tarot deck. Although I was already exposed to healing practices through my grandmother, who was a traditional healer, I had no idea how to use the Tarot. At first, I relied solely on my intuition because it didn’t come with a guidebook. Initially, I didn’t use it much because I was afraid of seeing things I didn’t want to. Eventually, I decided to study the cards one by one and create my own interpretations of the symbols I saw.

One of the most memorable predictions I made was when I embarrassed myself in front of many students. The cards showed that I would be humiliated if I skipped CAT training, but I ignored the warning. Because of my stubbornness, I was punished and made to do duck walks in front of many cadets. That incident traumatized me, and I’ve avoided disregarding what I see in the cards ever since.

Over time, however, I realized that I wasn’t just using the cards for "fortune-telling."

What Opened My Eyes to the True Purpose of Tarot

I grew up in poverty. My father, a carpenter, had no regular income, and my mother was frequently hospitalized due to her illness. We faced many hardships—I had to stop studying in college, and my father passed away unexpectedly, leaving me to take on the role of the family provider.

Amidst these challenges, the Tarot became my companion. It guided me toward the first steps needed to break free from the cycle of struggles. During one reading, it revealed that writing could be the starting point for my success. I took a chance and applied to a digital marketing company that needed a writer, even though I hadn’t finished college. Thankfully, I got the job and was promoted to manager within a year.

Is It Fair to Call It Just Fortune-Telling?

Because I was determined to help myself and my family, and since I loved reading English novels and journaling since high school, the cards gave me positive messages that encouraged me to push forward with my application. However, if I didn’t have the skills needed for the role I wanted, the cards wouldn’t have shown positive signs. Instead, they would have revealed what I needed to work on to open the path. In short, Tarot shows probabilities rather than guesses, based on our current situation and condition.

Tarot reading is not just simple fortune-telling—it is a tool that helps us align our energy with the things we want to achieve.
